District of North Vancouver has received an application to redevelop a site for 172 units near Phibbs Exchange.

Engage Architecture Inc has applied to redevelop the site at 1553-1595 Hunter St and 489 Marie Place. The property is currently occupied by single-family homes. Marie Place Park is to the south of the site.

The application proposes 80 owned apartments in seven-storey building and 92 market-rental apartments in a six-storey building.

There will be parking for 119 vehicles in an underground parkade, and nine spaces for visitors.

The applicant will be hosting an early public information meeting, where residents can share their thoughts about the development. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, the meeting will be held virtually.

A link to the meeting will be provided on the DNV website on October 12.

If this project proceeds, it will require rezoning and an OCP amendment and a development permit.
