Since the dispute began, over 100 Seabus sailings have been cancelled and the impacts of an overtime ban in maintenance have begun to impact bus routes across the region.
SeaBus cancellations will coincide with the union’s planned ban on operator overtime. Meanwhile, Coast Mountain Bus Company is working to minimize impact on customers but expects a 10 per cent reduction in bus service.
CMBC is offering annual salary increases of over $6,000 for operators and nearly $10,000 for mechanics outpacing other public sector settlements in BC, as well as significant improvements to working conditions such as guaranteed recovery time for operators, the company said.
CMBC is urging the union to immediately end job action and to return to the bargaining table with reasonable wage demands.
