Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore and Northeast areas.
A frontal system is set to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Metro Vancouver, notably the North Shore and northeast areas. The rain, at times heavy, is expected to persist throughout today and tonight, with anticipated rainfall amounts reaching up to 50 mm by Wednesday morning. The heavy downpours could lead to flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and monitor Environment Canada’s alerts and forecasts. Individuals can report incidents in severe weather by emailing BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweeting using the hashtag #BCStorm. The areas under this effect include Metro Vancouver—North Shore, encompassing West Vancouver and North Vancouver, and Metro Vancouver—Northeast, covering Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.
A special weather statement is also in effect for Coquihalla Highway. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 cm with locally higher amounts is possible, which may effect transportation routes. Travellers should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
