Alert: Lions Gate Bridge, Stanley Park causeway to close on weekends

Traffic will be detoured over the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge
staff report
January 12, 2024 2:36pm

The province encourages people to consider using Ironworkers Memorial Bridge on the weekend to minimize traffic impacts as Stanley Park Causeway closes for tree removal. During the full closure of the causeway, traffic will be detoured over the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing.

The closures support a planned tree-removal project in Stanley Park led by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation. One lane will be closed on the Stanley Park Causeway on the following dates. One lane in each direction will remain open:

Sunday, Jan. 14: From 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 21: From 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 27: From 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Southbound pedestrians and bikes will be detoured through Stanley Park and to the east side of the causeway/bridge.

On Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., the Stanley Park Causeway and Lions Gate Bridge will be fully closed to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, followed by a single lane closure from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The full schedule of weekend lane closures can be found on the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation website.

Watch for traffic-control personnel, obey signs and check DriveBC for updates.
