North Vancouver RCMP has arrested and charged a man following a stabbing incident that took place in Deep Cove on Saturday.
On May 26th, 2024, the BC prosecution service formally charged Alexander Currie of North Vancouver with Attempted Murder, Assault with a weapon, Uttering Threats, Mischief, Assault on a Police Officer, and Possession of a Weapon. His next court appearance is May 27th, 2024.
On May 25th, 2024, just after 3 pm, North Vancouver RCMP received several reports of a man with a knife allegedly slashing cars and subsequently attacking a motorcyclist near Mount Seymour Parkway and Deep Cove Road.
It is alleged the man was carrying a knife and using it to damage cars. The man then allegedly attacked a motorcyclist, striking his helmet with the knife, but fortunately, causing no injury. The motorcyclist did sustain minor injuries as a result of falling, and was led to safety by a motorist at the scene.
Numerous officers responded and arrived on scene within minutes. They located the suspect and safely took him into custody. It is alleged that while the man was in police custody, he also assaulted a police officer.
Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP said: “The quick actions of our officers led to the safe arrest of the suspect. We would like to thank the quick-thinking actions of a passerby motorist who assisted the motorcyclist by guiding them to safety.”
