Vancouver Police have issued an Amber Alert for a three-year-old boy who was abducted from Children’s Hospital yesterday afternoon.

Phaivanh Correia-Chanthabouala was last seen at Children’s Hospital around 12:40 p.m. on September 19, and investigators believe he was taken by his mother, Jenny Chanthabouala.  Phaivanh had been receiving treatment for a medical condition, and police are concerned for his health and safety.  Phaivanh is about two feet tall and was last seen wearing a grey zip-up sweater, blue pants, and red shoes.

Jenny Chanthaboula is Asian, has long black dreadlocks, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black toque, grey sweatpants, and brown “Ugg” boots. She may be carrying a red/brown/turquoise striped messenger bag.

Their current whereabouts are unknown, and it’s also unknown if they are travelling in a vehicle.

Amber Alerts may only be issued by law enforcement agencies in cases of parental child abductions when there are reasonable grounds to believe a victim is in imminent danger, when investigators have obtained detailed descriptions about the alleged abductor and/or a vehicle involved, and if police believe the Amber Alert will lead to the safe return of the child or the apprehension of the abductor.

Anyone who sees Phaivanh Correia-Chanthabouala or his mother, Jenny Chanthabouala, is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Unexpected alert to my phone while on a cruise ship in US waters – far from DNV. Woke up everyone in cabin – despite phone on mute. I understand that part due to the app setting but fail to understand the contact was beyond scope expected. Perhaps a review is needed since this occurred?
