Australian retailer The Source Bulk Foods is planning to open its second location in BC in North Vancouver.

The Source Bulk Food will be opening its second BC store at the Parkgate Village Shopping Centre in North Vancouver. It is expected to open this Spring.

The retailer with its zero-waste policy on bulk foods has over 64 locations in the world, including in Toronto and Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood. The Vancouver store opened last August at 2699 West Broadway.

The store espouses a zero-waste policy and claims to have diverted thousands of kilograms of waste from landfill.

“At the Source Bulk Foods you can buy as much or as little as you need in bulk. This style of shopping not only reduces the use of unnecessary packaging, but also reduces food waste,” the store says.

A typical plastic-free store will have bulk foods such as organic wholefoods, cooking liquids and oils, healthy snacks and sustainable personal and household products.

The first store opened in Australis in 2012 and is now the largest specialized bulk food retailer in Australia.

“Our wholesome array of ingredients are delivered the way food ought to be, not packaged in plastic, nor tied with string. Take only what you need, refill your favourite honey jar, connect with the source of your food and embrace a better way to shop.”
