Nearly half of all British Columbians will experience a mental illness by the time they are 40, and about 17% are currently experiencing a mental illness or substance abuse issue right now.

Do you know where to find the support you need to help the ones you support? Pathways Serious Mental Illness Society provides free one-to-one support, group support, educational programs, lectures, and workshops as well as advocacy work. The society is also asking for support to help raise awareness and funds.

“Our annual Circle of Strength luncheon has been transformational as we continue to raise awareness for mental illness and funds to expand our services to those who need them,” said Aurelia Ulanday, an educational program coordinator for Pathways.

Circle of Strength has been Pathways Serious Mental Illness Society’s primary fundraiser for 14 years. These funds have made possible the provision for  Family-to-Family Course and the weekly support groups, all at no cost, to those who use and benefit from these services, helping to transform the lives of caregivers of mentally ill loved ones.

Pathways is seeking event sponsors and table hosts for its Circle of Strength. “Please consider joining our efforts to raise awareness and reduce stigma for families affected by mental illnesses.”
