Brazen day-time shooting in Coquitlam

staff report
January 4, 2024 5:38pm

Coquitlam RCMP is asking for witnesses and dash-cam video of a brazen daytime shooting that occurred just before 3 pm on Thursday, January 4.

Coquitlam RCMP Frontline officers attended a shooting in progress in Johnson Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam. Police received multiple reports that several people had shot at a vehicle. Officers located bullet holes and casings in the area. Police quickly located two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting. There are no reported injuries at the time, police said.

“We are extremely lucky that no one was injured during this brazen day-time shooting in a very populated area,” said Superintendent Keith Bramhill, Officer in Charge of Coquitlam RCMP. “As we are in the initial stages of the investigation, we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or saw a man pointing a firearm in the area of Johnson Street and Glen Drive to contact Police. We are also asking anyone who may have dash-cam, cellphone or home surveillance video between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 to contact Coquitlam RCMP.”

Police are seeking any witnesses or persons who may have video footage, including dashcam, surveillance or cellphone video to contact investigators. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-324.

And whoever it is, won’t get punished and probably just a slap on the wrist like everything else in this province.
