City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan and Councillor Jessica McIlroy have proposed a Veteran Street Banner Program to honor local veterans along the Remembrance Day parade route.

The initiative would feature photos of veterans, paying tribute to their service while fostering community respect and educating younger generations about military life and the importance of peace.

The program, modeled after similar initiatives across Canada, is typically funded through donations, grants, sponsorships, and participation fees. Staff have been directed to allocate part of the 2026 Public Realm budget for the project and to review other municipal programs before reporting back with a proposal for implementation.
