Carolyn “‘Lyn” Anglin has been nominated as the BC Liberal candidate for North Vancouver-Lonsdale in the upcoming provincial election.
A resident of Lonsdale for nearly 20 years, Anglin put her name forward as the BC Liberal candidate because she believes the BC Liberals’ vision for lowering the tax burden, reducing red tape for businesses, making housing more affordable and investing in transit and infrastructure is the best path forward to support the people and small businesses that make up Lonsdale’s unique identity.
“My role in Geoscience BC really gave me a clear understanding of the importance of responsible resource development in B.C.’s economy and the positive impact it has for communities and Indigenous groups across the province,” said Anglin.
“The NDP’s mishandling of the Site C dam, LNG, and the ongoing forestry crisis has cost our province thousands of jobs and severely impacted the competitiveness of some of our province’s major industries. I don’t want to see another four years of NDP mismanagement. I believe in the BC Liberal vision which recognizes the invaluable role a responsible, sustainable and competitive resource sector will play in our economic recovery.”
Since retiring in 2018, Lyn has worked part-time as a consultant and has been busy focusing on her passion for volunteering and community service, supporting a number of different causes including ScienceWorld, Women in Mining, and Mineral Exploration BC.
In her free time, ‘Lyn loves gardening, exploring the trails in her backyard around the North Shore, and held a private pilot’s license for over decade with a passion for flying vintage planes.
“Lonsdale is such a diverse community that really embraces it’s multicultural identity. It is home for people from so many different backgrounds who are at so many different points in their lives. I am really looking forward to engaging with the community over the next thirty days,” added Anglin.
“When John Horgan decided to trigger a snap election in the middle of a global pandemic, it really signified to me that he has chosen personal political gain over the safety and needs of my community and all British Columbians. I don’t believe another four years of the NDP will give us the best chance to save what makes Lonsdale so great. I want to help my community recover and grow under a government that will create opportunity for all of B.C. including the people that make up our community of North Vancouver-Lonsdale.”
Was there a nomination meeting? Or was she just acclaimed? This entirely uncritical profile reads like she wrote it herself …
