Staff report

Centennial Theatre will upgrade its ticketing services on August 20 with the launch of Showpass, a Canadian-based box office and theatre ticketing platform. According to a press release, the new system will replace the previous Theatre Manager software.

The theatre said customers can expect a faster and more responsive website, a streamlined checkout process, and the ability to download tickets directly to Apple or Google Wallet.

Showpass will also allow purchases without requiring an account, although customers can choose to create one for easier future transactions. Anyone who has used Showpass at other venues can use the same account at Centennial Theatre. Customers who already purchased tickets under the old system will receive new Showpass tickets by email, which will be required for entry.

Printed tickets issued previously can be exchanged at the box office, including on the night of a show. The transition is expected to be seamless, but there may be a brief period on August 20 when ticket sales are unavailable. Tickets remain available at tickets.centennialtheatre.com or through the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture website under the Centennial Theatre section.

Gift certificates will continue to be valid under the new system. Only ticket and gift certificate holders with upcoming events will have their information transferred. The theatre noted that Showpass complies with Canadian privacy laws and will only send marketing emails with customer consent.

For assistance, customers can contact the box office at ctcboxoffice@nvrc.ca or 604-984-4484. Summer box office hours run Thursday to Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., until August 30. Regular hours resume September 2, Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.
