The City of North Vancouver is encouraging residents to reduce energy use while staying warm this winter through its “Hold the Heat” campaign, delivered in partnership with Lonsdale Energy.
In a press release, the City said the initiative offers practical tips to help households stay comfortable during the colder months, when heating demands increase. Saving energy at home can improve comfort while lowering energy bills, it further stated.
Energy providers across the City—including FortisBC, BC Hydro, and Lonsdale Energy—are urging residents to adopt small, everyday changes. Space and water heating account for nearly 80 per cent of household energy use, making winter efficiency efforts especially important.
According to the press release, residents can “Hold the Heat” by keeping baseboard heaters clean, sealing drafts and closing curtains at night, reducing hot water use, using small energy-saving tools such as low-flow shower heads, and running ceiling fans clockwise at a low speed to circulate warm air.
To support the campaign, Lonsdale Energy is giving away 50 energy saver kits valued at $50 each. The kits include renter-friendly items such as door draft stoppers, low-flow shower heads, outlet plate insulation, window shrink film, and weatherstripping to help keep heat indoors and reduce hot water use.
City of North Vancouver residents can enter the draw by visiting lonsdaleenergy.ca/HoldTheHeat. Lonsdale Energy is a City-owned utility that has operated the community energy system since 2003, providing heating and cooling services to residents, businesses, and municipal facilities.
Residents are also encouraged to follow the City and its energy service providers for more winter energy-saving tips.
