City of North Vancouver launches month-long lineup of free winter events

Families gather across North Vancouver as the City rolls out free winter events this December.
December 12, 2025 9:58am

The City of North Vancouver has launched a month-long slate of free, family-friendly winter events across Central Lonsdale, Lower Lonsdale, and The Shipyards. The City announced the seasonal lineup in a notice on December 4, highlighting community celebrations, charity drives, and holiday markets running throughout December.

According to the City, weekly Winter Wonderland activities will return to parklets along Lonsdale Avenue between 14th and 17th Street. Festive programming—featuring roaming performers, music, treats and seasonal entertainment—will take place on December 5 from noon to 7 p.m., and on December 12 and 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The North Vancouver City Fire Department will hold its annual Season of Giving Drive-Thru on December 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The department said the event allows residents to remain in their vehicles while donating new toys, books, non-perishable food items or cash for local families. Each participating vehicle will receive complimentary hot chocolate and candy canes.

According to the fire department, residents unable to attend the drive-thru can still contribute by dropping off new, unwrapped toys at the Fire Hall during regular office hours until December 19. The Toy Drive supports community organizations that distribute holiday gifts to families in need.

Civic Plaza will host the Frozen Winter Wonderland on December 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The City stated that the event, located between City Hall and the City Library, will feature meet-and-greets with characters from Disney’s Frozen, hands-on activities, live entertainment and free hot chocolate. The celebration will proceed rain or shine.

Lower Lonsdale will close part of its Living Lane for Winter Wonderlane on December 18 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The City, in partnership with the Lower Lonsdale Business Improvement Area, will offer winter crafts, music, performances, hot chocolate and prize giveaways in a pedestrian-only space.

The City also listed several additional events taking place throughout December, including holiday markets at The Pipe Shop, the Burrard Yacht Club Festival of Lights, book sales, concerts, public skating on New Year’s Eve and the ongoing Hi-Light Festival at Park & Tilford Gardens.
