Applications and nominations are now open for the City of North Vancouver‘s 2026 Living City Grants and Living City Awards, offering funding and recognition to local groups and individuals driving environmental initiatives.
In a press release, the City highlighted that the Living City Grant program provides funding to non-profit and community groups for community-based environmental sustainability projects, with a total of $30,000 available each year. Past recipients have used the grants for initiatives in energy conservation, zero waste, urban agriculture, sustainable transportation, water conservation, and environmental education. Each grant typically ranges from $1,500 to $3,000.
The press release noted that in 2025, The Craft Pod received a grant to expand its hands-on community workshops, helping residents learn to extend the life of materials, grow food, and reduce waste. Eligible applicants include registered not-for-profit societies or unincorporated local community associations, schools, groups, or service clubs. More details on eligibility are available at cnv.org/LivingCityGrant.
Meanwhile, the Living City Awards celebrate outstanding environmental leadership in the community. According to the press release, nominations are open to non-profits, local businesses, school groups, or individuals making the City greener and healthier. In 2025, Ocean Ambassadors Canada received an award for promoting zero-waste practices through community engagement and collaboration with local businesses.
