CNV launches micro-wedding pilot project

Staff report
July 29, 2020 1:56pm

City of North Vancouver has launched a micro-wedding pilot project to help couples tie the knot.

With large weddings cancelled this summer, CNV has launched a project that runs until October 31.

It allows couples to book a micro wedding (up to 10 people) on Fridays from 12 to 5 pm St. Roch Landing in the Shipyards.

Micro weddings will be limited to one-hour time slots and up to five weddings are allowed per day.

St Roch Landing is a scenic deck located to the east of Pier 7 restaurant, and it heads down to St. Roch Dock, a multi-use public space with moorage that provides panoramic views of downtown Vancouver.

Booking requests will be considered on a month-by-month basis, and each time slot includes set-up and tear-down.

All bookings are made on a first come, first serve basis, as outdoor community spaces will be kept open to the public at all times.

Wedding parties should be comfortable with having members of the public in the vicinity of their ceremony.

Micro weddings must only consist of a ceremony, and receptions or large gatherings will not be. Couples must be prepared to bring their own officiant, marriage licence and photographer.

Guests are required to maintain physical distancing at all times, and additional guests are not permitted to view the ceremony from afar.

The fees is $90 + GST per hour, and all wedding parties are required to carry a minimum of $5 million Commercial General Liability Insurance naming the City of North Vancouver as an additional insured.
