CNV plans new sidewalks, trees and lights at East 3rd Street

Staff report
July 12, 2022 7:24am

The City of North Vancouver is planning to reallocate existing surplus funding from Seabus upgrades and Moodyville traffic signals to off-site works at East 3rd Street.

The relocation of $249,000 would allow for the tender and construction of off-site works at 615 East 3rd Street.

According to a CNV report, the frontage along East 3rd Street and Ridgeway Avenue doesn’t meet the standard for public realm amenity for a newly constructed building. It also falls well short of the Moodyville neighbourhod standard. CNV plans to reallocate some of the surplus funds from other project to construct new sidewalk, new off-street mobility path, new street trees in boulevards, new street lights, traffic signal upgrade, new curb and gutters and paving to centerline.

The improvements will all follow the typical look and feel of the Moodyville streetscape character. Staff are recommending that Council approve moving forward with construction of the curb which would create the appropriate public realm amenity to the Moodyville standard.

The project would cost $842,566.94.
