Construction for B-Line bus service starts in West Van in late July

Residents can expect noise associated with light construction machinery and single-lane closures

Construction for B-Line bus service will start in West Vancouver in late July. It will take place intermittently for two weeks starting on July 29 between 9 am and 2 pm and between 7 pm and 4 am on some nights, according to the latest update by TransLink. The West Vancouver segment of the route will be on Marine Drive between Taylor Way and Park Royal Shopping Centre.

During overnight work, residents can expect line painting, some construction lighting and noise associated with light construction machinery. TransLink is currently seeking a noise variance from the District of West Vancouver to allow night-time work to take place.

The transit agency says single-lane closures are also necessary for overnight work. “Together with the contractor, we are making every effort to minimize the impact of this construction activity. To reduce the impact on daytime traffic, we are completing some of this required roadwork at night when there are fewer vehicles on the road,” the agency says.

TransLink has completed some construction work in the City of North Vancouver, but new construction work begins from July 20 on Esplanade West from Chesterfield Avenue to Lonsdale Avenue. TransLink will install new traffic signals; and will make changes to the sidewalks and curbs; and pour new concrete.

Construction on other sections in the city started in June and early July, while construction in the district has been on since early June.

The express bus service, between Park Royal and Phibbs Exchange, will run every eight minutes during peak times and every 10 to 15 minutes during non-peak times.
