The Squamish Nation has issued an alert about a cougar sighting in the Capilano Reserve area.
Over the past several weeks, there have been confirmed sightings of a cougar and evidence of cougar activity in the area surrounding the Littlest Ones School.
The school is located close to the intersection of Welch Street and Lower Capilano Road.
“We ask residents to exercise caution, including keeping your pets on a leash if walking in the area,” Squamish Nation warns.
“If you see a cougar, stay calm and give the cougar a chance to escape. Ensure that any children are protected, and back up slowly, keeping your eyes on the wildcat. Make yourself look as large as possible.”
All cougar sightings should be reported to BC Conservation Officer Services at 1-877-952-7277
