The District of West Vancouver Council will soon review a plan that would bring upgrades to Gleneagles Park with new pickleball courts, expanded skateboarding amenities, and a potential pump track on nearby BC Hydro land.
The plan includes a design-build procurement process using $527,710 in previously approved funding. According to the report, the proposal represents a revised approach after the Council rejected an earlier, larger redevelopment plan in June 2025 and instead asked staff to explore whether pickleball courts could be built on BC Hydro land across from the Gleneagles Community Centre.
The updated plan will bring most of the improvements back onto the existing park site, while still keeping open the option of building a pump track on BC Hydro property at a later date, the staff noted.

Pickleball courts and skate upgrades planned for park
The revised concept would replace the existing bike terrain park with three regulation-size pickleball courts. The design would include pedestrian walkways, buffers, and a social patio between two of the courts to separate pickleball activity from skateboarding and create space for gathering and viewing.
The existing skateboard bowl would remain and be upgraded, with specialty repainting scheduled at the end of construction to improve safety and performance. A new street-style skateboarding area, covering about 6,535 square feet, would also be added to broaden the range of users and complement the bowl.
The combined layout is intended to create a more active and flexible park, drawing both youth and adults while improving an area that is currently underused, staff noted
If the Council approves issuing a Design-Build Request for Proposal, staff will begin the tendering process and include a feasibility study and order-of-magnitude cost estimates for possible full or partial roof and lighting options over the courts and skate areas, according to the report.
Should bids come in above the $527,710 budget, staff will return to Council to request additional funding from the Community Amenity Contribution – Community-Serving Reserve.
