Deep Cove Cultural Centre applies to extend liquor licence to theater

STAFF REPORT
July 15, 2020 12:46pm
The Deep Cove Cultural Centre has applied to extend their liquor licence to the theater space.
The centre has an existing liquor primary licence to permit the sale and consumption of alcohol in the building’s gallery, meeting room, and lobby areas.

An approval on this application would allow the centre to allow consumption of alcohol in the theatre space during performances.

The Deep Cove Cultural Centre received two temporary extensions of the licenced area, in November 2018 and November 2019, to allow alcohol in the theatre space for specific performances.

For its new application, DNV received four responses. Two were in support and two raised concerns.

The District of North Vancouver Fire Department has reviewed the proposal and has no comments on this application, while DNV bylaws has also not identified any concerns.

The RCMP doesn’t oppose this proposal and there have been no complaints received regarding the existing licence.

DNV staff is also supportive.

“The proposed permanent extension of the liquor licence is supportable as the impact on the surrounding community is expected to be minimal, “ the report notes.

There are no proposed changes to the existing licence hours, which will remain from 11 am to 1 am, Monday to Saturday; and 11 am to 12 am on Sunday.
