Staff report
February 23, 2021 5:44pm

Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure crews have started the work of demolishing the Fern Street overpass last night.

The overpass is being demolished as part of the Highway 1 Lower Lynn Improvement Project.

In order to complete this work, there will be five days of night closures from Feb. 22-26. The hours of night work operation are from 9 pm to 5 am.

The demolition work is between Exit 21 and Fern St for 1 kilometer.

West-bound and East bound Highway 1 will be closed at Fern Street, from 9 pm to 5 am, from Feb 22 to 26.

Detours as well as lane closures will be in effect.

This work is part of the Highway 1 Lower Lynn Improvement Project.

The project will shorten commute times and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on the North Shore, MOTI says.

Drivers are asked to follow signs and obey posted speed limits.
