Developer scraps plans for gondola to Dundarave, proposes 279 units

Staff report
December 16, 2020 11:32am

The District of West Vancouver has received a preliminary development application for 279 units.

A gondola from Dundarave to the development site was earlier proposed, but the plan has now been scrapped.

“Although public interest was expressed regarding the proposed gondola, given the feasibility and potential impact to the Dundarave area and residents along the planned route, the gondola has now been removed from the development proposal,” according to a report from District of West Vancouver.

The development is at the four lots located at 2510 Wentworth Avenue and 2480 Wentworth Avenue.

The proposal as of now includes 279 units—a mix of townhouses, apartments and residences, and dedicated parkland.

The district has not received any formal application.

The developer is proposing 279 “market housing” units, as follows: 41 townhouses (2 to 3 storeys), 43 stacked residences (1 to 2 storey townhouses), and 195 apartment units.

There will be two twelve storey apartment buildings on southeast portion of site, with new road configurations and trail connections.

The developer is proposing an underground parkade entrance to apartment buildings and stacked townhouses.

Also being proposed is approximately 0.41 hectares of parkland and protection of the Marr Creek riparian area.

The developer is also proposing 6,000 square feet of indoor amenity facility, along with publicly accessible open spaces throughout.
