DNV invites community to open house on affordable housing

April 19, 2022 10:39am

District of North Vancouver is hosting an online survey, and a virtual open house on April 21 and 26 and an in-person open house on May 4.

Get the details here.

District of North Vancouver is looking at adding new affordable housing on a pair of District-owned sites in the future. The properties are located at 900 St. Denis Avenue and the southeast corner of Mountain Highway and Hunter Street.

Portions of these sites are currently occupied by Fire Hall #2 and the DNVFRS training centre, both of which will soon be replaced by the new Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre.

The District says that new affordable housing on District-owned land can help ensure low- to moderate-income households, including those vulnerable to homelessness, are able to live and work in the District.

Housing is considered affordable when 30% or less of a household’s income goes towards paying housing costs.

The District want to hear your thoughts on some options for what affordable housing could look like on these two DNV sites and learn more about your perspectives on affordable housing in general.

So grateful for the efforts this Council has made the past 3.5 years in advancing rental, affordable and social housing in our municipality! Definitely will provide input on these potential developments!
