DNV seeks input on seating area expansion in Deep Cove

STAFF REPORT
August 12, 2020 4:52pm

District of North Vancouver is inviting input on a plan to expand pedestrian area and seating on Gallant Avenue in Deep Cove.

The expansion starts today and DNV says it will improved traffic circulation, support local business activity, and promote the continued safe enjoyment of Deep Cove for both residents and visitors.

The district is also inviting residents and businesses to share their perspectives about the proposed changes to Gallant Avenue.

Besides temporarily reallocating roads, DNV will  also be creating one-way traffic in the lower block of Gallant Avenue over the next few weeks on a trial measure.

This trial, DNV says, will help residents and visitors to safely enjoy the area and allow local businesses to serve more customers.

During this time, traffic will be re-routed along Banbury Road and Panorama Drive.

According to the district, businesses in Deep Cove have indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact day to day operations.

Residents are also concerned about the viability of local businesses and maintaining an appropriate distance from others in and around the village given the current road allocations and traffic.

District is inviting residents to share their feedback on the project.
