District of North Vancouver is hosting a virtual public information meeting for a proposed social housing project near Old Dollarton Road and Riverside Drive.
If selected, the development would include 60 to 90 rental homes, though a specific number of units has yet to be determined.
It is expected to be a six-storey apartment building with one level of underground parking.
Rents would be established through a lease agreement with a future non-profit housing provider.
The rents will be appropriate for low-to-moderate-income households in the District with before-tax incomes ranging from $30,001 to $85,170.
Locals can ask questions and provide their comments about this project online until 5 pm on November 15.
DNV is exploring rezoning for a District-owned site near Old Dollarton Road and Riverside Drive in order to have it considered for an affordable housing development grant from Metro Vancouver Housing.
The site is undeveloped and consists primarily of second-growth forest.
At Council’s direction, District staff reviewed 10 District owned sites to assess their suitability for affordable rental housing, which would be developed through a partnership with Metro Vancouver Housing.
In a meeting on Sept 27, the Council directed the staff to proceed with a rezoning process for the Riverside site, which is one of the 10 identified sites.
Mountain Highway and Hunter Street, Burr Place, Lillooet Road east and west, St. Denis Avenue, and four other sites on Maplewood and Old Dollarton Road are also under consideration.
