The District of North Vancouver will hold a public hearing next week on proposed changes to the municipality’s development permit process.
In a press release, the District said residents can weigh in on the Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw to Streamline Development Permits at a hybrid hearing on Tuesday, Feb.17, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 355 West Queens Road. The hearing will also be accessible online via Zoom or by phone.
The proposed bylaw would amend the Official Community Plan to streamline approvals by giving municipal staff authority to issue development permits for industrial and business park projects without council approval. Staff could also approve permits that include minor variances to the Zoning Bylaw, revise the definition of minor development permits, and establish new exemptions for certain Form and Character Development Permit Area projects.
The changes would apply to all lands within District boundaries under municipal jurisdiction, the press release noted.
Residents wishing to speak must register by 3 p.m. on Feb. 17 by contacting the Corporate Officer at signup@dnv.org. Written submissions can be sent to input@dnv.org or mailed to 355 West Queens Road, North Vancouver, BC, V7N 4N5. Additional speakers who have not pre-registered may speak after the scheduled list. Council will not accept further input after the hearing concludes.
Copies of the bylaw are available at District Hall, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or online at DNV.org/agenda.
