DNV to replace aging wooden ramp in Dollarton for better beach access

Staff report
November 13, 2024 8:57am

The District of North Vancouver is set to begin a project to replace the aging wooden ramp providing waterfront access along Beachview Drive. “The ramp is at the end of its service life, and this work will ensure it is stable enough to support pedestrian travel well into the future,” DNV said in a community notice.

In addition to replacing the ramp, crews will resurface the access trail and implement improvements to enhance overall accessibility to the beach.

Project Schedule and Impact

Construction will start on November 14, 2024, and take approximately three to four weeks. Work will take place Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Temporary trail closures and parking restrictions will be in effect for two to three weeks to accommodate the project, with portions of on-street parking unavailable during work hours to store materials and equipment.

Residents and visitors should expect demolition noise and construction activity in the area, although every effort will be made to minimize disruption. For questions regarding the project, don’t hesitate to contact Project Manager Kyle Dupuis at dupuisk@dnv.org.

Maybe we could build a new boat launch somewhere as well while we’re at it. Access to the water for pleasure craft on the North Shore is pathetic
