A driver escaped with only minor injuries after their vehicle rolled into a ditch on Cypress Mountain during the first significant snowfall of the season, according to a social media post by the West Vancouver Police Department.
Police said the driver lost control while travelling uphill and the vehicle was destroyed in the crash. Despite the extensive damage, the driver was able to walk away from the scene with only minor injuries.
Today’s weather brought one of the first really good dumps of snow for the season for Cypress Mountain. It’s very beautiful, but drivers need to remember to #slowdown and #DriveForTheConditions. In the post, published Wednesday on X (formerly Twitter), the department noted that while the snowfall made the mountain “very beautiful,” it also created hazardous driving conditions. Officers reminded motorists to slow down and drive for the conditions, warning that winter weather can make roads slippery and unpredictable.
Authorities continue to urge drivers to use caution, ensure vehicles are equipped with proper winter tires, and adjust their driving habits as snowfall increases across the North Shore mountains.
