One person is dead after their vehicle hit a tree and caught fire in West Vancouver on Friday.
West Vancouver police were called to the crash near Pound Road around 12:10 p.m. According to police, the vehicle was going east on Pound Road when it left the road, crashed into a tree, and caught fire. The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene.
West Vancouver Fire and Rescue and Emergency Health Services also responded. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners Service are now assisting police with the investigation.
Police are asking anyone who saw the crash or has video or dashcam footage to contact them at 604-925-7300. The West Vancouver Police Department extended its condolences to the family and friends of the driver and is offering support through Victim Services at 604-925-7468.
