Edgemont community association to host all-candidates meeting

It will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 7 pm, at the Highland United Church in Edgemont
Staff report

A local community association is inviting citizens in North Vancouver to an all-candidates meeting for the North Vancouver riding.

The meeting is being organised by the Edgemont and Upper Capilano Community Association. It will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 7 pm, at the Highland United Church at 3255 Edgemont Blvd.

EUCCA member Adrian Chaster will be moderating the all-candidates meeting.  Chaster said the association plans to start at 7 pm and finish by 9:15 pm.

“During the first half of the meeting, I shall be putting questions to the candidates.  We usually issue each candidate a number of “wild cards”, which entitles him or her to address a question which was put to another candidate.  In this way, candidates get to say their piece on issues most important to them, even if they weren’t asked directly to address these issues,” he said.

After an intermission, members of the audience can ask questions. Liberal party candidate Jonathan Wilkinson, Conservative candidate Andrew E. Saxton, George Orr, the Green Party candidate, NDP candidate Justine Bell and Azamimin Jadavji, a candidate from the PPC have confirmed that they will be attending.

The Canadian Iranian Foundation is organising a “Meet the Candidates” event at the John Braithwaite Community Centre on Sunday, October 6, from 3 pm to 8 pm.

Andrew Wilkinson won the riding in 2015 with 56.7 per cent of the vote, while Andrew Saxton was second with 26.9 per cent of the votes.
