Drivers on the North Shore are advised that Exit 22, the Fern Street eastbound off-ramp, will be permanently closed effective Sunday, May 31, 2020.
The closure of the Fern Street exit off Highway 1 eastbound is necessary to accommodate the new Mountain Highway eastbound on-ramp merge lane, the province said.
“This will allow drivers to safely join Highway 1 eastbound from the Mountain Highway interchange and avoid conflict with exiting motorists,” BC said.
With the closure of Exit 22, eastbound drivers travelling to Lillooet Road and Mount Seymour Parkway will need to use Exit 21, the Mountain Highway eastbound off-ramp, and take Keith Road.
The changes are part of the Highway 1/Lower Lynn interchanges project that the government says will improve safety and traffic flow in the area.
The estimated total cost for this project is $198 million.
How about using the 198 million to add more buses to the route?
Are you serious?
We will just clog up the main st Dollarton exit.
Sometimes I wonder about the city planners and whose interests they have in mind.
Developers are who they have in mind, not residents!
The light at A4 -mt hwy/Keith road needs to be removed. It’s redundant.
While it does mean an inconvenience to us (Blueridge residents since ’86) I agree with reconfiguring the interchange at Fern. I also wonder why they make no mention of the off ramp leading to Phibbs, which probably is a bit faster for people heading east on Mount Seymour Parkway than taking Exit 21. I’m not sure about removing the light at A4 if that is the North Shore Winter Club intersection as drivers would proably need something to turn west.
