West Vancouver Police have confirmed that an 18-year-old man from Maple Ridge tragically died in a chairlift accident at Cypress Mountain Resort on Thursday evening.
According to a press release, Emergency Services were called at approximately 7:27 p.m. on Jan. 15 after reports of someone in medical distress following a fall from a chairlift. The young man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“All available evidence points to this being a tragic accident,” said Suzanne Birch, spokesperson for the West Vancouver Police Department. “There are no obvious indications of technical or mechanical issues with the chairlift. As the death appears to be non-suspicious, the investigation is now with the Coroner’s Office.”
West Vancouver Police have confirmed that a fatal incident occurred at Cypress Mountain Resort on Wednesday evening, prompting the mobilization of Victim Services for the family, witnesses, and members of the public.
