Fernie woman charged for dangerous driving on Highway 1

staff report
November 23, 2023 7:51pm

A Fernie woman has been charged for dangerous driving on Highway 1. On November 22, 2023, Alexandra Georgson, 29, of Fernie BC, was charged with five counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle causing bodily harm.

Georgson will appear in court on December 13, 2023.

The incident happened in September last year. On September 21st, 2022, at approximately 12:45 pm, officers responded to an accident on Highway 1 eastbound, between Cypress and 22nd street, after reports of a collision involving four vehicles.

West Vancouver Police, BC Ambulance and West Vancouver Fire and Rescue investigated the serious collision involving a motorhome and three vehicles on highway 1 between Cypress Bowl Rd and 22nd St.

According to the police, the motorhome was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes when the vehicle caused two other vehicles to swerve before going head on with the third and final vehicle. Five ambulances attended the scene and transported five people to the hospital. Two individuals are believed to be in critical condition, while four sustained minor injuries.

Due to the serious nature of the incident members of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended and took control of the scene.
