Fog advisory issued for Metro Vancouver

Staff report
January 7, 2025 7:39am

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Metro Vancouver, including central areas such as the City of Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster. Localized patches of dense fog are expected to persist through the morning, particularly in low-lying areas and near bodies of water.

Impact on Travel:

The dense fog is causing reduced visibility in certain locations, creating hazardous conditions for motorists. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, use headlights, and maintain a safe following distance. Visibility could drop to near-zero in some areas.

Environment Canada advises residents to monitor weather updates and remain vigilant while traveling. Severe weather reports can be emailed to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or shared on Twitter with the hashtag #BCStorm.

Stay tuned for further updates as conditions evolve. Environment Canada recommends monitoring weather updates throughout the morning. Severe weather reports can be emailed to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or shared on Twitter using the hashtag #BCStorm.

Still got an amazing sun rise this morning. Sky was almost red with lovely bright pink and yellow streaks and bright blue skies and light clouds floating around. Hope someone gets some pictures but you have to be up around 7 – 8 am
