Four coyotes in Stanley Park were euthanized by the Conservation Officers overnight and this morning.
One of the coyotes was captured in very close proximity to the site of the recent attack on a two-year old girl.
Conservation Officers will continue to monitor the area, and said they recognize multiple coyotes are involved in ongoing incidents at Stanley Park.
The coyotes will be taken to the Abbotsford Animal Health Lab for analysis.
Efforts are continuing with park rangers, area organizations, the municipality and wildlife biologists to further address and reduce coyote conflicts, the service said.
On July 13, a two-year-old girl was attacked by a coyote in Stanley Park.
At approx. 9: 30 p.m., a group of adults and children were walking from the parking lot near the aquarium when a coyote suddenly jumped on the child.
Her father intervened and the coyote left the area. The child suffered injuries and was treated in hospital. Two days before that, three people were also attacked by a coyote in different incidents.
The public is asked to use abundant caution in Stanley Park, as there is a high risk of encountering an aggressive coyote.
