Free parking this month at ICBC parking lot in North Vancouver

Free parking is available on all weekends and from 6 pm to 6 am on weekdays
STAFF REPORT
December 8, 2020 4:11pm

Free parking is available to shoppers at the ICBC Parking lot for December.

Parking will be free all weekend and from 6 pm to 6 am on weekdays.

After offering free parking for several years, the ICBC parking lot has started charging for parking few months ago.

Greg Holmes, the president of Lower Lonsdale BIA, spoke to the management and urged them to offer free parking so small businesses in the community could benefit.

“I contacted them and negotiated a free parking for evening on weekday and from 6 pm to 6 am on weekends, and this has already started to help the business there,” he said.

Holmes the BIA has already hired Christmas Carollers who will be spreading the Christmas magic in The Shipyards area.

Meanwhile, City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan recently lighted the tree at the foot of Lonsdale.

The Shipyards will be aglow every night until January 4.

She also thanked the sponsors, Seaspan and Peak Technology, for the lights.

“Like so many things this year, the holiday season is going to be a little different than we’re used to. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be merry and bright.”

CNV is also urging people to buy local this season.

“There are many amazing local businesses where you can find the perfect gift for that special someone. By shopping, eating, and supporting local businesses you’re also supporting our community and strengthening our local economy,” the Mayor said.
