In partnership with The Royal Canadian Legion, TransLink is offering free transit for veterans on Remembrance Day and promoting the distribution of poppies at key transit hubs.
“TransLink is honoured to partner with the Legion to help spread poppies around Metro Vancouver,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond. “The poppy is an important symbol honouring all those who have served and are still serving their country.”
Transit customers will see members of The Royal Canadian Legion giving out poppies by donation at key transit hubs including:
Waterfront Station
Commercial-Broadway Station
Surrey Central Station
Lougheed Town Centre Station
Broadway-City Hall Station

By carrying their badge, military ID, or record of service card on the bus, SkyTrain, or SeaBus on November 11 – free transit will be extended to veterans as well as current members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Police Officers, Firefighters, Coast Guard Officers, BC Ambulance Paramedics, and Department of Fisheries and Oceans Officer. One accessible fare gate will be left open at all SeaBus and SkyTrain stations to accommodate.
TransLink encourages customers and staff to observe a moment of silence at or near 11 a.m. across the system on November 11.
