GoFundMe crowns North Vancouver as the most generous city in Canada

Staff report
December 9, 2021 10:31am

GoFundMe has named North Vancouver as this year’s most generous city in Canada.

North Vancouver was named by GoFundMe in its annual Year in Giving report, which reflects on another year of how Canadians have helped one another.

As the world navigated its second pandemic year and experienced new humanitarian crises, people’s willingness to help others continued to shine through even the darkest times.

In fact, this year, one donation was made every second across the globe to people who needed it most, says GoFundMe.

The top 5 cities that exercised the most generosity in Canada this year were: North Vancouver, Burlington, Vancouver, Kamloops and Kelowna.

And it’s no wonder cities in British Columbia rule the list. After this year’s historic wildfires and flooding sent shockwaves through the province, people across BC rushed to their neighbours’ aid.

“With approximately 1 in 7 Canadians giving generously on the platform, Canadians continued to show up for their communities and rallied to support one another every day,” GoFundMe said.
