Grouse Mountain closes Skyride temporarily

Staff report
November 4, 2020 9:25am

Grouse Mountain Resorts has closed the Skyride temporarily for a few days.

It closed on Monday, November 2 and will remain closed until Friday, November 6, at 12 pm.

For those who hike the Grouse Grind Trail or the BCMC Route, that means the only way down the mountain will be the BCMC Route.

Downhill travel on the Grouse Grind Trail is not allowed, according to Metro Vancouver.

“Due to this year’s planned maintenance and a scheduled BC Hydro power outage, the Mountain will be closed from Monday, November 2nd until noon on Friday, November 6th. There will be no public access to the Skyride and mountaintop facilities during this closure,” Grouse Mountain said.

Metro Vancouver has also been doing trail repair work on the Grouse Grind Trail, although no closures are expected.

Metro Vancouver also advises snow and ice may be present on the upper portion of the BCMC trail.

“Wear good footwear and seasonally appropriate clothing. Carry water and a snack. And be sure to leave enough time to finish your hike before the sun sets,” Metro Vancouver says.

Meanwhile, a portion of Capilano Pacific Trail from Keith Road to Moyne Drive will be closed until November 13, while repairs are made to a section that was affected by a small slide.

For more info, call the District of West Vancouver at 604-925-7275.
