North Vancouver RCMP are investigating an assault in Lynn Valley where a security guard was caught on video spitting on a teenager and kicking her.

Sgt. Peter DeVries of North Vancouver RCMP says they continue to investigate the assault which occurred outside the McDonald’s in the Valley Centre in Lynn Valley on Thursday.

DeVries says investigators are making efforts to identify the source of the video that was shared on social media.

In order to further their investigation, North Vancouver RCMP are asking the remaining parties involved to contact them. “It is crucial to any investigative process that police gather all available evidence,” said Sgt. DeVries.

“We are also asking any person who witnessed this incident, or who may have a video recording related to it, to contact us.”
They are asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and ask for the Watch Commander or Cst. Harrison.

The video shows a security guard thrashing a teen and then spitting on her. “You just hit three girls for no reason,” says one girl as the security guard walks away.

Dillan Simard, father of one of the girls, said he would like the police to charge the security guard with assault. “It’s a 60-year-old man hitting a 15-year-old girl,” he told CBC.
