The skating rink in The Shipyards in North Vancouver, the largest in Metro Vancouver, will close down for the season next week.

The City of North Vancouver is inviting the community to enjoy free skating at the public skating plaza, which is open from 12 pm to 7 pm daily.

CNV is offering free skate rentals today, from 5 pm to 7 pm.

The ice rink opened on December 19, 2019, and as many as 11,000 people visited the new ice rink in The Shipyards in the first two weeks of its launch.

Supervision at the ice rink isn’t provided at any time, and helmets are mandatory for all kids 12 and under and are available free of charge until supplies last.

No food or drink is permitted, and the plaza will close periodically for ice cleaning.

Underground parking, new public washrooms, ample seating and viewing areas and heritage elements and features are other inviting features of The Shipyards, an ambitious project the city has been working on for the past few years
