Karin Kirkpatrick liberal candidate for West Van-Capilano

Staff report
July 28, 2020 9:36am

BC Liberals have announced Karin Kirkpatrick as the next BC Liberal candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano.

Kirkpatrick has led a number of large B.C. organizations – most recently as CEO of Family Services of Greater Vancouver, one of British Columbia’s largest non-profit social services providers.

Kirkpatrick will be the sixth candidate to be nominated by the BC Liberals for the election next year

Karin has served as CEO and Registrar of the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of BC, as CEO of the Real Estate Foundation of BC, and as Assistant Dean of UBC’s Sauder School of Business. She previously started up and ran a recruiting agency.

Karin has been a board member of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Family Services of Canada, the Vancity Community Foundation, the BC Degree Quality Assessment Board, and the BC Council for International Education. Karin also served on the Judicial Council of British Columbia for six years.

She has been recognized for her leadership as a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants, as one of the Women’s Executive Network’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, and as a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

She holds a Master of Laws degree and an MBA, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant/Certified Management Accountant.

“I’m excited to be joining the BC Liberal team as we prepare for an election that could be the most significant of our lifetimes. Only a BC Liberal government can combine a prosperous economy with support for the most vulnerable British Columbians and an environmentally sustainable future.” said Kirkpatrick.

“I’m proud to welcome Karin to our team as we renew our party for the big challenges ahead,” said BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson.

“Her expertise, ability, and compassion will be critical as we work to deliver a prosperous, resilient, sustainable future for all of BC.”
