Local North Shore MLAs have been appointed to the shadow cabinet announced by BC Liberal Party Leader Kevin Falcon yesterday

West Vancouver-Capilano MLA Karin Kirkpatrick has been appointed as the Shadow Minister for Housing & Childcare, while MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, Jordan Sturdy has been appointed as the Shadow Minister for BC Ferries, Fisheries & Aquaculture.

“I am excited to continue my work to advocate for high-quality, affordable and accessible child care while taking on the new role as the Shadow Minister for Housing,” said Karin Kirkpatrick. “Housing affordability continues to worsen under the NDP — the new Premier and his government have yet to deliver on what they promised more than five years ago while rents and home prices continue to skyrocket. I will be working to ensure this government takes meaningful action to address issues of homelessness, and deliver the affordable housing British Columbians desperately need.”

Falcon said that while the NDP may have anointed a new Premier and grown the size of Cabinet, British Columbians still haven’t seen things improve after continued NDP inaction on the important issues facing people in every corner of our province.

“As the Official Opposition, we have a responsibility to make sure David Eby and the NDP are held accountable for their decisions in government and I’m excited to name new opposition shadow ministers today to do just that,” said Liberal Party leader Kevin Falcon.

“Our BC Liberal Caucus remains committed to holding them to account for that lack of action in areas like healthcare, affordability, and public safety, all while continuing to push government for bold responses to the various crises we must collectively tackle.”
