BC Conservative candidate for North Vancouver-Lonsdale, David Splett, is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 30 years of international experience in financial and operational management.

He has led huge organizations across multiple countries, driven organizational transformation, overseen multi-billion-dollar projects, and managed strategic planning processes.  David has also participated in the development of governmental policy across several nations. His executive leadership brings a long history of fiscal discipline and facilitation of economic development that brings good jobs to local families.

He has served on numerous Boards of Directors as Treasurer for the Canada/Peru Chamber of Commerce, along with serving on Selkirk College’s Board of Governors, the Kootenay Boundary Hospital Foundation, Fondo Minera Antamina in Peru, and several other charitable foundations.

David Splett has bachelor’s degrees in administration (accounting) and Economics, a Master’s Degree in Management systems, and an MBA.

Splett has been married for over 25 years to his wife Brenda-Jayne, and they have three sons, two of whom study engineering at UBC, and his youngest son has just begun his studies at the University of Alberta.  David decided to run for the provincial Conservative party due to his concerns regarding what he terms ‘highly destructive’ NDP policies and an out-of-touch leadership.

“I am shocked by the NDP’s policies supporting drug decriminalization, their inability to manage provincial finances, infrastructure projects, healthcare, and their history of increasing taxation on the average British Columbian,” he says. The NDP’s radical socialism has resulted in credit downgrades, and the province is no longer considered a desirable destination for business investment, which reduces the number of good jobs, he adds.

David believes that serving British Columbia’s families starts with reinstating cost discipline in government and ensuring that infrastructure projects are well controlled.  No more cost blowouts like the SkyTrain project, site C hydroelectric dam, and North Vancouver wastewater treatment plant, where project overages have added almost $4,000 per taxpayer.

Serving families also means cutting the taxes that consume over 40% of the average family’s income.  Economic development must also be a focus to re-attract business to our province.  The NDP has been particularly hostile towards the resource industry, which generated over $50 billion in exports in 2023 – more than 75% of total provincial exports.

A Conservative government will promote the development of forestry, minerals and natural gas resources, creating many jobs.  In addition, small businesses, which have suffered from layers of taxation and bureaucracy, will enjoy much-needed support from a Conservative government.

“Our healthcare system is near collapse due to drug decriminalization, lack of staffing, and not providing patients with access to both public and non-governmental facilities,” he says.  “It is widely recognized that many internationally trained professionals encounter barriers to working in their field in BC, which must be reduced. A patient-first model needs to be implemented.”

David looks forward to contributing to a Conservative government that serves youth, working families, and senior citizens.

You absolutely have my vote!! We MUST get rid of the NDP, they are literally destroying our Province and the main-stream does NOTHING to hold them accountable.
