Know Lynne Block, BC Conservative MLA candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano

October 1, 2024 11:13am

Lynne Block, the Conservative candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano, is leveraging her extensive experience in education and community service to campaign in the upcoming provincial election. A long-time resident of West Vancouver, Lynne Block says the BC Conservative Party of BC offers the most effective solutions to the province’s pressing issues, including high taxes, housing affordability, and the decline in public services.

Block has lived in the community for over 50 years and is deeply connected to West Vancouver. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and has enjoyed a long career as an educator. She is serving her second term as a school trustee in the West Vancouver School District. Block’s achievements include receiving the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence and recognition from several community organizations.

“I immigrated to Canada as a young girl and have been involved in community service for as long as I can remember. My family instilled in me the importance of serving others,” Block shared. Her community engagement extends across numerous boards and committees, such as the North Shore Youth Justice and Family Court Committee, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Dundarave Festival of Lights. She also co-founded a business and education consulting firm specializing in research-based learning and corporate social responsibility.

Block’s decision to run for the BC Conservatives stems from her dissatisfaction with the current NDP government’s management of the province’s finances and services. She says people are burdened by high taxes and an escalating cost of living while essential services—such as healthcare, education, and housing—continue to deteriorate.

“The NDP has been fiscally irresponsible. Our province is drowning in debt, and it’s affecting every facet of life for British Columbians,” Block stated. “I believe the BC Conservative Party is the only party capable of turning this province around, and John Rustad is the leader we need to restore fiscal responsibility and enhance the quality of life for everyone.”

In her discussions with residents of West Vancouver-Capilano, Block consistently hears concerns about the rising cost of living, which she attributes to excessive taxation. If elected, she plans to prioritize tax reductions, advocate for initiatives such as the Rustad housing rebate, and ensure a balanced provincial budget.

Block also wants to assure her constituents that their voices will be heard in Victoria. “Listening to my community and serving as their advocate is my highest priority,” she emphasized.

As the election draws near, Block remains focused on securing a majority government, which she believes is essential to implementing meaningful reforms. “My goal is to improve the quality of life for all residents in this riding and for British Columbians as a whole,” she said.

With a platform focused on fiscal responsibility, housing affordability, and reducing the cost of living, Block aims to offer a fresh and compelling choice for voters in West Vancouver-Capilano.
