Landslide closes Highway 99; no estimated time of reopening

Emergency crews are responding to a landslide on Highway 99 near the Brunswick Road exit ramp on Highway 99 in Lions Bay. The highway is closed in both directions and is not expected to reopen before midnight, says Squamish RCMP.

A geotechnical assessment is conducted by helicopter while crews are on the groundwork to assess the damage and begin cleanup. Tree debris is blocking the highway, and heavy equipment and maintenance personnel are coming. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect delays.

Hazards include a fallen tree and debris on the roadway. Expect delays. No detours are currently available. Crews are working to assess property damage and check for any injuries. So far, no injuries have been reported. Drivers are advised to monitor DriveBC for updates on road conditions and reopening times.
