Most of us took time off over the Easter weekend to relax and spend time with family and friends. But members of the Rotary Club of Lions Gate North Vancouver spent Saturday with fellow Vancouver Rotarians loading a container with much-needed medical supplies bound for Ukraine. The shipment included items such as PPE, hospital beds, wheelchairs, medical equipment and emergency shelters.

The Rotary Club of Lions Gate is one of several British Columbia-based Rotary Clubs which formed Rotary World Help (RWH), a non-profit organization aimed at collecting and distributing medical equipment & supplies, dental, optical, education & sports equipment and disaster relief supplies to international recipients in need.

RWH was founded in 1997, and since then has shipped over 400 containers of much-needed equipment and supplies to more than 60 countries. To date, over $145 million worth of supplies have been shipped. RWH has a long history of supporting Ukraine, with its first-ever shipment of medical supplies being sent to Ukraine.

One of the key features of the organization is that it acts as one central clearinghouse for the province-wide collection of usable materials and medical supplies. Donating hospitals and organizations deal with one group, rather than numerous organizations. This makes the collection and distribution of supplies highly efficient.
