Environment Canada has issued a wind and rainfall warning for North Shore.
A long episode of heavy rain is in store, with total rainfall of upto 110 mm in the region. Rain will intensify overnight with the first storm, which will pass through by mid-day on Monday, providing a brief reprieve from the heavy rain.
The second storm will arrive Monday evening and rain will intensify overnight. Heavy rain will continue through Tuesday and Tuesday night. Localised flooding due to ice-clogged drains, water pooling on roads, and high river levels can be expected, cautions Environment Canada.
A wind warning is also in effect for North Shore.
“A frontal system will arrive on the south coast early Monday morning giving strong winds and potential storm surge. The strong southeast winds will last for a brief period as the frontal system pushes through the region. The winds will diminish somewhat as they become southwesterly mid morning before tapering off further in the afternoon”
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
