Loose dog on Marine Drive in West Van rescued by BC Highway Patrol

October 24, 2022 4:04pm

A lost dog on Marine Drive in West Vancouver was rescued by BC Highway Patrol.

On October 11, members of BC Highway Patrol’s Integrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU) saw a loose dog while conducting speed enforcement on Marine Drive in West Vancouver. The officer and an unidentified civilian sprang into action.

The dog, later identified as Henry, was quite frantic and was almost struck by a vehicle while crossing Marine Drive, says Constable Stacey Shannon of Fraser Coast IRSU.

Police is also thanking a woman who helped capture Henry.

During the time it took to locate the owner, Cst. Shannon provided Henry with a comfortable ride and purchased some treats to make the experience less stressful. As Henry was wearing dog tags, Cst. Shannon was able to safely reunite Henry with his owner, and Henry expressed his appreciation with some vigorous tail-wagging!
